Seeking Short Stories

Picture
Are you interested in writing a short story/poem (minimum half a page - maximum 6 pages; or 200 - 2000 words) about your experience with Alzheimer's/Dementia?

I'm hoping to feature approximately 100 such stories to help other people understand that they are not alone.
If you're interested, please email me your submission. I promise to read them all and promise to notify you mid-September if your story has been chosen.

Instructions:
1. Send to: sherylgordon [at] hotmail [dot] com
2. Subject: Alzheimer Story/Poem Submission
3. Include:
  • Your personal story (non fiction).
  • Stories featuring the loss of words will get preferential treatment.
  • Do not include real names in your story.
  • Word documents preferred. File naming convention: FirstLast. Ex: sherylgordon.docx.
  • A Title for the short story/poem.
  • How you would like your name to appear. Ex: Sheryl Gordon, Author; Sheryl Maxine Gordon, Musician; sheryl m. gordon, poet (note: I'd like my name to appear in lower case), etc.
Note: This is an altruistic endeavour. That said, I hope you still think it's word your time.
Criteria and Deadline:
  • You must be a Canadian citizen or reside in Canada.
  • Published works are welcome providing there are no copyright issues. Ask your publisher if you can feature it in A Rewording Life before submitting it.
  • The first compelling 100 stories/poems will be featured in the book. That said, the deadline for submission is August 31st.
